Drag and drop the boxes into the correct order.

  • Macbeth murders King Duncan.
  • Macduff kills Macbeth and Malcolm is crowned King, restoring order to Scotland.
  • Malcolm's soldiers break off branches from the trees in Birnam Wood in order to appear as though there are more of them. From his castle, Macbeth sees the branches moving up the hill – the first of the Witches' apparitions apparently coming true.
  • Macbeth orders for Banquo and his son, Fleance, to be murdered. Banquo is killed, but Fleance escapes.

  • Fearing they may be blamed for their father's murder, Duncan's sons – Malcolm (the heir to the throne) and Donalbain – flee, leaving Macbeth to be crowned King.
  • Lady Macbeth dies offstage, presumably having committed suicide. Macbeth is preparing for battle.
  • Macbeth sees Banquo's ghost.
  • Macbeth goes in search of the Witches to ask for more information from them and is shown three apparitions.
  • Macbeth and Banquo are met by the three Witches.

  • Having been told, 'Beware Macduff', Macbeth has Macduff's wife and children murdered. At the time, Macduff is in England plotting to return to Scotland with Malcolm to overthrow Macbeth.
  • We discover that Macduff was born by caesarean section, and the second of the Witches' apparitions apparently comes true.
