Order the following components from the equator to the poles

  • It's very hot during the day, and very arid here - high pressure between the Hadley and Ferrel cells means that there are no clouds - the ground is strongly heated by the Sun, it hardly ever rains, and it's very cold at night!
  • The pressure is high here, so it doesn't rain much. But we're not at a hot desert - it's rather cold and dark in the winter (and the ground may be frozen all year).
  • It is warm here and very, very wet because of the low pressure - but not as hot as deserts because of all the clouds that form.
  • Winds return air towards the equator, but we're still a long way from the poles.
  • Air rises in this zone, between the polar and Ferrel cells, rushing down from the pole from one cell and towards the pole in the other. We have seasons here because of the Earth's tilt.

This is your 1st attempt! The marking algorithm gives more marks for getting the right order first time.
