Page: GCSE (9-1) AQA Media Studies eRevision
This resource is relevant for teachers of Media One and Media Two of the GCSE AQA specification for Media Studies. This eRevision package is designed for students to use in the run-up to their written examinations. It allows them to consolidate the knowledge they have been taught in lessons through a series of exercises testing a range of skills, from key terms and contextual knowledge to textual analysis and exam-style questions. The prospect of memorising months of knowledge can be highly daunting, so this package breaks down the specification in a way that facilitates fun and effective revision.
The exercises in this resource can also be set as homework tasks as they reinforce classroom knowledge and encourage independent learning. This package provides ready-made homework tasks in specification order, meaning you can slot them into your scheme of work with great ease.
The resource is structured in the following way:
Module | Topic | Sub-topic |
Media One Section A and Section B | Section A: Exploring Media Language and Representation | Magazines: Language |
Section B: Exploring Media Industries and Audiences | Newspapers: Industry | |
Media Two Section A | Doctor Who (1963) BBC TV Series Episode 1 ‘An Unearthly Child’ | Language |

Each subtopic in Media One is dedicated to a particular media form in relation to one of the media frameworks.
For Media Two: Section A, each topic covers one of the television close study products – Doctor Who and Class/His Dark Materials. Each subtopic is dedicated to one of the theoretical frameworks.
Note: A topic has not been dedicated to Media Two: Section B . This module is intended to consolidate knowledge through the study of newspapers or online, social and participatory media and video games – media forms that are already covered in Media One.
The majority of subtopics, across the pack, contain 3–5 exercises.
Effort has been made to strike a relatively equal balance of exercise types so that students are tested on a range of skills.
An exam-style exercise has been included for every single subtopic.
Please note that many of the exercises are differentiated in order to cater for students with a range of abilities. The level (A, B or C) at which students approach each exercise will determine the difficulty and complexity of the knowledge being tested.
