The shape and type of bones can lead to different amounts of movements.  ThickShortFlatLong bones allow for fine movements, while  shortflatthicklong bones enable gross movements.  LongFlatThickWhite bones provide protection to the vital organs, such as the cranium protecting the brain and the  ribstalushumerusulna protecting the heart and lungs. Different joint types also allow for different types of movement, with  aerobicball and sockettablehinge joints allowing the greatest range of movement.
