A program is a set of  instructionshousesbusesdevices, that tells a computer how to perform a specific  tasknetworkdownloadprocessor, written in a programming language and executed by the  networkmouseCPUmonitor. 

An application, also known as application  bitsoftwarerouterschat, is a complete software  packagerouterswitchcohort that performs a specific activity directly for  a device driveran end userinterruptspower management, often consisting of multiple  programskernelsengineersIDEs working together.

Operating systems are used by many types of devices but are not used by devices like  mobile phonesremote controlsgames consolespersonal computers. In addition to the functionality of a stand-alone operating system (OS), a network OS has extra facilities to handle  file handlingmemory managementmultitaskingnetwork traffic. A network OS is generally used in network hardware like  RFIC chipsSIM cardsmemory cardsrouters.

With proprietary OS the source code is  hidden fromdeveloped byavailable toshared with the public. However, with open-source operating systems, the source code is  owned bylicensed byhidden fromviewable by the public and anyone can  changepatentcopyrightown it.
