Motivation towards a training programme has many benefits for the sports performer. These include:

  • By adhering to all sessions in the training programme and maintaining  levels during each session, the performer is able to get the most out of training and improve the different components of  they might be focusing on, such as muscular from heavy weight training or aerobic from interval training.
  • It is very easy to skip a training session. Doing so may mean that fitness does not as much as the pre-planned programme expected. Missing too many sessions may even result in the of fitness. Being motivated helps the performer to complete every planned session and reap the greatest rewards that they possibly can from the programme.
  • By attending every training session and putting the right amount of effort into training, the improved levels of fitness will ultimately translate to improved in the specific sport. For example, a football player who is working on their speed and agility may use that to their advantage when running with the ball and beating defenders.
  • Having the motivation to train helps to increase rates. It is important to find what factors motivate certain people to train and offer these as to ensure individuals attend all sessions planned in a programme.
  • Being motivated for a training session helps the performer to meet the required training . This allows them to get the most out of each training session.
