- Enjoyment, e.g. continued participation in an activity because you find it
- To achieve personal best performances, e.g. by working hard in training and reaping the rewards in
- To set personal , e.g. weight loss
- money, e.g. a tennis player competing in the open tournament at Wimbledon will receive a sum of money for each round they advance through
- Trophies, e.g. the winning tennis player at Wimbledon will be presented with the Lady's or Gentleman's Singles trophy
- , e.g. words of congratulations from a coach or cheers from a crowd
- (things that can be touched, such as trophies and medals)
- (things that aren't of a physical form, such as feedback from a coach)
motivation can be effective in the short term, but performers may become over- on it if it is overused. However, use of motivation is useful for ensuring task over the long term and continued enthusiasm towards participation.
