The world is at a dangerous tipping point when it comes to climate change. The largest rise in energy demand is from developing and  countries. This is because they are developing their industries, and the demand from people is also rising. A ' as usual' approach of using fossil fuels would significantly increase the level of  dioxide in the atmosphere. But luckily, even in these countries, peopleare becoming more concerned about their environment. The demand for clean and cheap energy can come from us - the customers. We call this group the . We can reduce our carbon  by doing small things like turning the heating down, or switching off lights and electronics when we're not using them.

Companies that have operations in several countries are called Transnational Corporations (or  for short. While their task is to provide a healthy profit for their shareholders, those shareholders often want the company to be sustainable - often called the triple bottom line. Greenpeace is an example of an  group - it lobbies for large companies to make improvements, and produces rankings for different countries. Companies could ensure that they source green electricity where possible.

A group of individuals called climate  study the climate and make models of how the climate could respond to different scenarios of emissions.  are in charge of running countries and they make laws and legislation on things like carbon emissions and energy sources used to generate electricity. They may have signed up to international agreements such as the  accord that was signed in April 2016.
