There is a variety of different within Islam. Some, like Id-ul-, are great celebrations, but others, such as , are far more solemn. is an example of a festival which is observed differently depending on the school of faith – this is a festival which is far more important to Muslims, for whom it is a day of mourning. On this day, worshippers remember the Battle of , a historical conflict which saw the martyrdom of Husayn, the grandson of the Prophet. Many Shi'as wear clothing in the colour to express their grief.
