A religious is a religious experience where the individual having the experience sees something supernatural – this can happen during a dream, out of nowhere or through a religious trance.

Visions are a type of special where believers think that communicates directly with human beings. There are multiple instances within the where God appears to people in visions, including Abraham who has a vision of God where he makes a covenant for Israel in Genesis  and the Transfiguration of Christ in 17:1–13.

Christians believe that visions can be considered to be proof of God's existence for the simple fact that in order for visions to be real, then so too must be . Christians believe that visions are one of the ways in which God interacts with humanity – this is recorded multiple times throughout the Bible. Christians believe that God could still give visions to believers today – however, these visions need to be verified against biblical teachings, as God would not contradict his past messages.

Non-believers may argue that visions are insufficient evidence of God's existence. This is because visions can be explained by physiological factors – for example, visions can take place when the is deprived of , which can result in hallucinations. There is also the issue that accounts of visions need to be accepted on the word of the individuals who experienced them – which can be highly biased or even a lie.
