freedom is an important belief within society itself, but also within Christianity. The human condition of having free will is a key consideration when discussing the Christian attitude towards religious freedom.

For example, the of the Catholic Church states that 'the right to exercise of freedom, especially in moral and religious matters, is an inalienable requirement of the dignity of the human person'. This can be found in section of the Catechism. This is tied closely to Christian ideas of  – that human beings are free moral agents as this is one of the key features which makes humanity unique, special and distinct from the rest of creation.

Some Christians may feel challenged by living in a society, as their religious convictions may be challenged by interaction with people from other belief systems. The benefits which Christians may find by living in a mutlifaith society is enriching work with people of other religions in order to heal divides which exist between faith groups in society.  Many churches use groups in order to try to facilitate interfaith work in order to pursue a more harmonious society.
