The origin of the has always been a topic of interest. Traditionally it was always held that had created the world, as the majority of the population in Britain accepted the Christian account of events. However, as developments and discoveries have provided alternatives, now there is a debate regarding whether or not religion and can be compatible in their ideas about the origin of the world. There are multiple positions in this debate. Some people believe that science is the only way to understand the world, and that religion is as a result. These people would argue that the modern age has given us enough information to explain our existence without God and, therefore, religion has no place in modern society. Others might believe that religion and science can work . They might understand the Big Bang theory as supporting religious theories of creation, as it corroborates the idea of there being event which caused the world to exist. They might believe that the account of creation in is compatible with the Big Bang theory, as it could be interpreted as being rather than literal. In this way the account of Genesis is considered to be poetry. They might view the creation in seven days as being better translated as seven – longer periods of time where God created the world rather than the exact seven days in the Bible. There are others, however, that believe that the Bible is telling a literal account of creation. They would not consider their beliefs to be compatible with the Big Bang Theory.
