Drag and drop the boxes into the correct order.

  • I land on a blanket peat bog.
  • Finally, I reach the Bristol Channel. I flow past Steep Holm and Flat Holm and then I’m out into the Atlantic Ocean.
  • I become part of an upland river – I’m narrow and steep, and weave between interlocking spurs.
  • I pass below the two Severn Bridges and thick banks of deposited mud. It’s tidal here. Twice a day water from the sea moves up the channel and into the river way.
  • Eventually, past Gloucester, I flow into a large estuary.
  • My course begins to level off. The river channel widens as it is joined by other tributaries.
  • I get wider still, flowing across a wide floodplain. When I pass settlements, such as Shrewsbury, I pass flood defences.
  • The river channel gets a little bit wider with small waterfalls along a rocky bed.
  • I start my journey downhill in a gully within the bog.
  • I fall from the sky as rain over a mountain called Plynlimon, in Powys.
  • The waterfalls get larger and more spectacular.
  • I start to meander and flow over lush fields. I pass a number of old channels that have been cut off to form oxbow lakes.
