Attempt
1 of 3

Drag and drop the boxes into the correct order.

  • The first of these three boxes lists the root causes - which are limited access to power, structures and resources, and also ideologies - political and economic systems.
  • On the right-hand side, the natural hazards feed into the disaster. The hazards include earthquakes, floods, landslides, volcanic eruptions, droughts, viruses and pests, and wind storms.
  • These are fed into the disaster box, which has the equation Risk = Hazard x Vulnerability.
  • On the left-hand side there are three sub-boxes under the general heading of 'Progression of Vulnerability'.
  • These are fed into the next box - unsafe conditions. These include the physical environment, the local environment, social relations and public relations.
  • These are then fed into the next box - dynamic pressures. These include a lack of training, local investment and press freedom. They also include macro-forces - such as rapid population growth, urbanisation and deforestation.

This is your 1st attempt! The marking algorithm gives more marks for getting the right order first time.
