Drag and drop the boxes into the correct order.

  • In the east, cold water from the deep ocean wells up to the surface, replacing the warmer water that has been blown westwards.
  • At altitude, air travels back east and sinks – atmospheric circulation.
  • Warm surface ocean water is pushed to the west.
  • Trade winds at the surface blow from east to west (from Peru towards Western Asia).
  • This warm water heats the air above the Western Pacific, causing it to rise (creating rainfall).
  • This creates a temperature difference across the ocean.

This is your 1st attempt! The marking algorithm gives more marks for getting the right order first time.
