Order the following stages of river engineering

A settlement is built on the floodplain.
There’s a heavy rainstorm. The pond fills with water, and the town doesn’t flood. The residents are delighted!
The river’s volume is therefore increased, and water flows quickly downstream.
Further engineering takes place – the river is returned back to a natural state by adding meanders, and a storage pond is built.
Action is taken - the river is artificially straightened.
Additionally, trees are planted upstream. They make great wildlife habitats, and locals walk their dogs there.
The river floods, the early town becomes flooded.
The floodplain develops and is in a natural state. The river meanders.
The river floods again, but this time the flooding is downstream because the water got there too fast.
The river needs to be dredged regularly to stop the build-up of material.
