The question will ask you to write about a specific scenario. Your piece can be imaginative or based on a real story. There will be an image to help prompt you if you wish to use it.
When you write about a scenario, remember to include:
- lots of imagery – paint a picture for the reader
- language devices, e.g. similes, metaphors, personification, onomatopoeia
- all of the senses – what you can see, smell, touch, taste, hear
- a good ending – try to write a short concluding paragraph or sentence to make a well-rounded piece; don't just stop writing
Overall, examiners want to see writing that is interesting.
Don't forget that there are marks for accuracy.
Remember to check that:
- you've used clear paragraphs
- your sentences are complete
- you've used a range of vocabulary
- your spellings are accurate
- you've used a range of punctuation marks
