Reminder:
Subordinating conjunctions are little words which join two sentences together. In French, there are only a few subordinating conjunctions: que (that), comme (as/since), lorsque and quand (when), quoique (even though), puisque (since to indicate cause), and si (if).
Ex: Je crois que c'est une bonne idée. = I believe that it is a good idea.
* Note that in English, 'that' is optional in this sentence, whereas 'que' is not optional in French.
Ex: Je peux t'aider puisque j'ai du temps. = I can help you as I've got time.
Also, note the contraction of lorsque - lorsqu', que - qu', puisque - puisqu', si - s' and quoique - quoiqu', if they are followed by a vowel.
Ex: S'il fait beau, j'irai à la plage. = If it is sunny, I'll go to the beach.
