Reminder:
The imperative is used to give orders, instructions or advice. It is rather direct so you might want to add 's'il vous plaît' (please) or 'je vous en prie' (more formal please) according to whom you are talking to.
The imperative can only be used for tu (you friendly), vous (you plural or polite) and nous (we), as it is to give an order or advice directly to someone else, sometimes including ourselves, hence the nous form.
To form the imperative, put the verb in the present tense and remove the tu, nous or vous.
Ex: Vous finissez vos devoirs = You finish your homework in the imperative becomes: Finissez vos devoirs! Finish your homework!
Ex: Va jouer dans le jardin! Go play in the garden!
Ex: Allons à la mer! Let's go to the sea!
* For ER verbs in the tu form, you need to remove the -s.
Ex: Tu ranges ta chambre = you tidy your bedroom, goes to : Range ta chambre! Tidy your bedroom!
To form a negative imperative, add ne... pas (or any other negative) around the verb.
Ex: Ne fais pas de bêtises! Don't do anything silly!
Ex: Ne dis jamais ça! Never say that!
