Comparing Texts and Synthesising Ideas Notes

Question 5 is worth 4 marks and requires you to use both texts.  To score well on AO1, you need to synthesise the information from both texts.  

You should use your own words to explain what the texts say.

Only AO1 is marked on this question.

Question 6 is worth 10 marks.

You need to compare both sources by looking at similarities and differences in perspectives or attitudes and analyse how the writers show us this in the way the texts are written.

You need to look at language and structure, and how the writers use them in their writing.

This question is marked only for AO3 – you cannot do well if you do not look at a writer's methods and analyse them.
