Some metals, such as  goldironcalciummagnesiumlithiumsodium, are considered unreactive, and are found pure in nature. Other metals have to be  acidifieddugneutralisedevaporatedextractedpolymerised from their ores. This is usually done by  an extractiona reductiona carbonisationa precipitationa deoxidationa demagnetising reaction, where the metal loses oxygen. The metal oxide reacts with  watercarbonhydrogencarbonic acida metal carbonatecarbon monoxide to form the pure metal and carbon dioxide.
