The cells inside an organism perform many different roles. They must become  muscle cellsidenticalmore flexiblelargerspecialiseddifferent in order to perform these roles. Examples include  egg cellsxylem cellsnerve cellssperm cellsphloem cellsmuscle cells, which are the male reproductive cells, and root hair cells, which have a  small vacuolethick cell wallhair-like extensionflexible cell membranehydrophobic cell walllarge nucleus in order to increase the amount of absorption possible. Plant and animal cells are different in terms of when they are able to make specialised cells. Plants can  specialisereproducecommunicatedifferentiateregeneratedivide throughout life, though animals only tend to perform this function when they are  an embryofemalefeedingdyingcommunicatingolder. The cells in mature animals can only divide to perform  repairreproductionfunctionscommunicationspecialisationrespiration or replacement.

In order to view cells, either  a microwavean X-raya nucleusa gamma rayan electrona proton or a light  telescopemicroscopeinstrumentcolorimetervisorruler can be used. Both are capable of magnifying cells, but  neitherelectron microscopeseyeslight microscopesX-raysmagnifying glasses are capable of much higher magnification and  sizeprecisionaccuracyspecialisationcolourresolution, so finer details can be observed.
