Health and social care services are  regulatedcheckedmanagedassessed through inspection authorities who are required to provide regular  treatmentsinspectionsquestionsobservations of services in terms of quality and meeting service standards. There are a number of regulators who are responsible for ensuring that expected  issuesstandardstargetsmilestones are met by all health and social care services.

  • The Care  QualityPracticeServiceProvision Commission is the health and social care watchdog which registers, monitors and inspects providers of the majority of health and social care provision. 
  •  OfstenOfstedOfsterOfscar is the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills, which inspects and regulates care services for children and young people. 
As well as those organisations that regulate health and social care organisations, there are regulators that are specific to occupations, which are known as  provisionpractitionerprofessor professional bodies. Examples of these include the Health and Care Professions Council, which keeps a  countphototrackregister of dieticians, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and so on. Social Work England was established in 2017, and it sets the  professor professionalpractitionerprovision standards that all social workers must adhere to. Finally, the Nursing and Midwifery Council is the  recountregisterrehabilitationregulator for nurses, nursing associates and midwives in England.
