Nationalism is an ideology that maintains that nations and nationality are the primary form of   thoughtprincipleidentityethnicity. This applies to both individual people and states.

There are six core ideas and principles within nationalism. The first is the view that the   peopleracelocationnation is the main basis of a society. The sixth and final one is the view that there should be unity and cooperation between all people, known as   collectivisationcommon humanityinternationalismself-determination. However, this one is compatible only with the   liberal nationalistexpansionist nationalistconservative nationalistanti-colonialist branch of nationalism.
