The development of modern  technologyideasstrategyknowledge has meant that weapons of war have developed to such a point that they can now cause large-scale, devastating harm should they be used. An example of this is the development of  gunsweapons of mass destructionartillerymachine guns, which can cause a huge amount of harm and are difficult to pinpoint at a target, meaning the risk of civilian and agricultural harm is high. There are a variety of different kinds of weapons of  massfinalhardhigh destruction. One example of these is nuclear weapons. These are scientifically engineered bombs which harness  nuclearexplosiveeconomicpolitical energy, which when deployed causes large-scale harm to agriculture, structure and civilians. In humans exposed to such an explosion, common impacts include burning and  biologicalphysicalchemicalradiation poisoning. Another example is biological weapons. This is the use of means such as intentionally releasing  infectionspoisondiseasesfood in order to fight. This might be done by infecting a water supply of the enemy civilians or enemy armed forces in order to weaken the opponents. A famous example of the damage that can be caused by weapons of mass destruction is the bombing of  WashingtonHiroshimaEdinburghPearl Harbour by the United States with the  atomicManhattanenvironmentalexplosive bomb. This bomb was dropped in an attempt to force the Japanese to surrender and thus end the Second World War. The impact of this bomb was huge: it devastated the landscape of the area surrounding its target as well as killing thousands. The impact of the bomb has been felt for generations as a result of the  atomicradiationnuclearbiological poisoning. Many people have reported that their parents, descendants of those who were victims of radiation poisoning, have since died of cancer as a result of their exposure.
