The Internet of Everything (IoE) refers to the of devices using the Internet. These devices can range from big or small appliances and are referred to as devices because of how they exchange information using the Internet. Some examples of these interconnected devices are smart lights, smart speakers and smartphones. IoE brings all the devices together through communication of private Internet connections.
The IoE is built up of four pillars:
- : a valuable asset which is transferred and processed.
- Processes: the operations carried out on that data.
- Humans: being connected to the Internet through with devices.
- Devices (or Things): the objects which are connected and make intelligent decisions, helping humans make tasks easier.
IoE interactivity consists of two components. Firstly, device to device (D2D) interaction, which operates with other linked devices like automatically switching on lights based on a timer set by a human. Secondly, human to device (H2D) interaction, which uses to perform tasks given by a human, e.g. voice commands to a smart speaker to play a certain song.
An advantage of using IoE is the of everyday tasks which gives more control to humans and enhances security. But a drawback can come due to lack of and whether the data being transmitted is encrypted well enough to reduce any chance of hacking.
