An introduction to the Middle East

The Middle East is a region which includes parts of   Asia and AustralasiaAntarctica and South AmericaEurope and North AmericaEurope and South AmericaAsia and North AmericaAsia and Africa. In this region there are large areas of   savannahhot deserttundratemperate foresttropical rainforesttaiga. It is also very rich because it has large reserves of  coalcrude oilcheesenatural gasbananasdiamonds. The majority of people are   MuslimsatheistsJedi KnightsBuddhistsChristiansSikhs. The area was once dominated by the   ChineseIndianOttomanRomanGreekRussian Empire but it began to fall into decline in the   eighteenthtwentiethfourteenththirteenthseventeenthnineteenth century. After the First World War, when its people fought against the Allies, control of the area passed to the French and the   GermansItaliansBritishAmericansChineseGreeks but unrest in the area meant that the countries of the Middle East became fully independent.
