There are three main types of strong chemical bonding:

Small molecules have very weak  intermolecular forcesmetallic attractionslatticesdelocalised electronsmolecular bondsionic interactions and so they melt and boil at very low temperatures.

Polymers are large molecules made of chains of  metallically bonded metal atomsionically bonded carbon atomsionically bonded hydrogen and oxygen atomscovalently bonded silicon atomscovalently bonded oxygen atomscovalently bonded carbon atoms. Polymers have relatively strong intermolecular forces, so are mostly  whitechargedsolidfrozenlocalisedconductive at room temperature.

Diamond and  ozoneammoniawatercarbon dioxidegraphitesodium chloride are examples of large, regular structures of covalently bonded atoms.

In metallic bonding,  non-metalsalloyselectronsdiatomsionscarbon atoms are surrounded by  uncharged neutronsprotonscarbon atomsentropywater moleculesdelocalised electrons. Positive ions are electrostatically attracted to  protonsother positive ionsneutronsisotopeselectronsnuclei. The atoms arrange into  spherescubessquareslineslayerstriangles which can slide over each other when the metal is bent. Many metals are good  conserversconductorsinsulatorscreatorstransducersusers of electricity and heat due to their  positive chargesionic interactionsdelocalised electronsstrong bondingsmall sizeflexibility.
