The  Data ProtectionProtection of FreedomsGDPRRegulation of Investigatory Powers Act was legislation that allowed public authorities (government departments) to monitor and intercept communications made by the general public in order to use in criminal and terrorism investigations, but this was amended by the Investigatory Powers Act in  2000201820162020.

The Protection of Freedoms Act 2012 covers the storage and use of  insecurebiometricpublicgovernment data as well as CCTV and number plate recognition.

The Freedom of  LockdownPublicCityInformation Act ensures that public bodies publish information and allows the public to request information, providing that it isn’t sensitive.

Computer Misuse Act 1990 relates to  data requestslawful usecommunicationshacking, gaining unauthorised access to a computer and modifying files. Later amendments gave new definitions and bigger fines for impairment and distributing malware.
