Large regeneration projects may need to be managed by a   councilchamber of commerceTNCdevelopment corporation, such as the London Docklands, which is a company formed by the government to bring together all of the players and funding and see the project through to fruition.  This flagship regeneration project took   410517 years to complete due to its size and complexity.  Public players included   county councilsborough councilsurban designerscity councils.  There were three involved in this project covering a large area of   West LondonSouth LondonEast LondonNorth London, an area which had seen the demise of manufacturing industry during deindustrialisation as the port functions of this area, including storage of gas, were moved to ports further up and down the coast in places such as   FelixstowePortsmouthPlymouthMilford Haven.  This left large areas of land disused which required the removal of pollutants from the topsoil before regeneration could take place.  The place also had a poor reputation from this pollution and deindustralisation so required its image to be changed through the process of   redevelopingrebuildingreimagingrebranding to encourage business to invest and move to the area.  The area also needed to be connected to the rest of London by the underground and they built   the Channel Tunnelthe Light RailwayCrossrailthe M25.  It needed to be connected internationally to support the finance district development through building   Gatwick AirportStanstead AirportLondon City AirportHeathrow Airport.  This made the area easily accessible to other finance centres around Europe for business meetings and clients.  The project also involved the building of residential areas, health centres and schools, making it a   mixed upmixed land-usecommunityrezoned project.
