The problem of evil poses a problem to  non-believersdoubtersonly Christiansbelievers – one they must solve themselves. There are a variety of different ways in which Muslims attempt to solve this problem, including:

  • Some Muslims view suffering as a  joygifttesttorture from Allah.
  • Some Muslims view suffering as a  challengerevelationgiftpunishment from Allah, to remind them to be charitable to others.
  • Some Muslims believe that  dancingprayercounsellingtalking is an effective way to deal with suffering.

One potential solution to the problem of evil and suffering is the existence of  strongfreepliableweak will; that every human being has the freedom to make moral choices. The faith of Islam teaches that human beings intrinsically know the difference between  sufferingjoyhappinessright and wrong. Therefore, choices people make which are morally wrong and cause suffering are within their own control – and cannot be blamed on Allah.

Muslims also believe that the Devil (known as  DawudIsaIbrahimShaytan) is a real being who attempts to trick humans to make bad choices and cause suffering. Muslims believe that this can also be an explanation for the existence of suffering and evil – that it is caused by the Devil. In his final sermon, Muhammad warned his followers that the Devil would attempt to divert them from the right path of  sinfailurebad choicesreligion.
