One example of large-scale racial prejudice is the trade, in which people from the continent of Africa were taken to be sold to work as slaves in Western countries such as the UK and the US. This resulted in a huge amount of suffering for those sold into slavery, who were not permitted to live freely. While slavery has now been abolished, many African American people still experience modern forms of such as police violence.
Many people historically justified the slave trade on the basis that some religious texts reference slaves and masters, and this is a problem for some religious people.
However, in the modern day most religious people emphasise that the Qur'an is very clear that Allah views all people as being .

Unfortunately, in the modern day, while racial slavery has been abolished, some of the racist attitudes (e.g. viewing white people as being of more value than people of other ethnicities) still persist. For example, there are supremacist groups such as the Ku Klux Klan that still exist, who view people who are not Caucasian as being of less value.
