 SadnessWealthSlaveryPoverty is a state of being without financial wealth. Generally, poverty is viewed as being a  helpfulnegativeusefulwonderful thing. Poverty makes life difficult for those who suffer, as they may struggle to make ends meet. Furthermore, being in poverty means that an individual is at  higherlowercompletedefinite risk of both physical and mental health issues. There are a variety of reasons for why an individual may end up in poverty. These could include anything from more mundane issues such as high  savingwagescharitable givingtaxation and austerity, to the paying of highly exploitative and  sufficientunfairadequategood wages or even natural disasters. There are a variety of religious responses to those in poverty which largely revolve around the idea of  endangeringignoringexamininghelping the poor and needy. 

Within Islam, giving to  companiescharityeveryoneanyone is an important pillar of faith. It is known as  ZakatSalahAllahSawm, where Muslims must give 2.5% of their yearly income to charity to help other lesser fortunate Muslims in the Ummah.
