There are different interpretations within Christianity regarding  hymnalencyclicalregularbiblical teaching on the role of men and women in the family. Some Christians believe that the role of women in society is that of a  workersistermotherfriend, a caregiver – to be a wife, and to have and raise children. This has some basis in the Bible, which commands Christians to  have as many children as physically possiblego forth and multiplydivorce their husbands and wivesget sterilised.

Some Christians believe that men and women are not equal within the structure of the family. This is because of a biblical teaching that women should  runtalksubmitchat to their husbands. This teaching is found in  EphesiansExodusGalatiansGenesis 5:21–30, which states that wives should submit to their husbands as they do to  JohnMosesAbrahamChrist, and that husbands should love their wives as Jesus loved the Church. Such beliefs are also supported by the  revelationcrucifixiontransfigurationcreation story, where God created woman as a ‘helper’ for men.

However, other Christians do not view the role of men and women in the family like this. They view men and women as being wholly equal, due to biblical teaching that God views men and women as being equal in his eyes.
