Marriage is a legal  relationshipcompanionshipfriendshipunion between two individuals, which is intended to be for  eternitylifeyearstwenty years. There is a difference between legal marriage, which can be performed in a civil ceremony, and religious marriage, which will be performed in a religious ceremony, such as within a place of worship. Within some churches, such as the Catholic tradition, marriage is considered to be a  happinessblessingunionsacrament. This means that it is considered to be holy and set apart, and to have the power to impart the  wisdomlovegracepower of God. Couples will make  statementsvowsdeclarationsideas to one another, which declare their intent to stay with one another for life. Within a religious ceremony, this will be considered to enter the two into a  contractcovenantlegal agreementbinding law between them and God. There they will promise to love, cherish and stay with one another for life, regardless of what comes their way. Other Christian denominations, such as the  ProtestantHassidicSunniCatholic traditions, do not view marriage as being a sacrament; however, they do still view it as being very important and not to be taken lightly. Many Christian teachings reference the permanence of marriage. Jesus states in Mark 10:9, 'Therefore what God has joined together, let no one  conjoinrejoinseparateleave.' This teaching underlines the importance that marriage within a Christian context is considered to be for life. Couples will also promise  fidelityinfidelitylovehealth to one another, which means that from that day on they are exclusively in a romantic relationship only with that person. Any other relationship from that point on is considered to be  badunkindadulteryimmoral, which is forbidden in the Ten Commandments.
