Quality  measurementscontrolstreetgauges and quality  assurancefactorsinspectionstolerances are a key aspect of the manufacture of component parts and products to ensure they are the correct size for example. Dimensional checks are carried out regularly of the parts being made to ensure they are manufactured within an agreed  tolerancecolourtimescaleform. A component that is supposed to be 120 mm long but manufactured to a + or – tolerance of 0.25 mm can be no longer than  122.50120.25124.75122.00 and no shorter than  124.75122.50119.75120.25. Sometimes a small tool like a  yes/yesgo/no gogo/goyes but/no go gauge is used to check the size of a component quite quickly and if a part is tested and found to be too big or too small, then it is  rejectedused anywaysquashed inthrown away.
